Inspiration’s 170 acres of nature preserve is an inviting extension of our residents’ private yards – Yards Without Boundaries! What we plant in our yards and how we manage them is important to our wildlife neighbors living in the prairies and wetlands.

Planting wildflower beds and rain gardens also frees us from devoting time normally given to having a weed-free lawn. Right-sized turfgrass areas can share yard space with beautiful wildflower landscaping, native trees and shrubs which invite the birds and butterflies into our private spaces - where we can enjoy them up-close and personal. By providing a place for nature in our yards, by directing rainwater into mini-wetlands (rain gardens) and by blending our yards with the large expanse of prairie, wetlands and oak savanna…

…we can individually contribute to the goal of creating a sustainable circle of life that we’ll enjoy today and for generations to come.
